How To Keep Wedding Ring From Sliding Off Finger

Keeping your Wedding Ring Securely on Your Finger

It is important that a wedding ring doesn’t slide off of your finger. If you find yourself constantly struggling to prevent your wedding ring from sliding off, chances are the ring is simply too large.

The best way to fix the problem is to get the ring properly resized by a professional jeweler.

Find out Your Wedding Ring Size

A trip to your local jewelry store will help you figure out the proper size of ring you need. Stores have special rings which can be tried on until you find one that fits perfectly. Look at the size of the ring and make note. Jewelers should also have these sizing rings, so if you are sure you want to go ahead with resizing, call ahead to see if the jeweler can check your ring size while you are there. An online jewelry store may have pictures and measurements listed to give you a head start before you get to a shop.

Finger width can be affected by certain conditions. Many people notice swelling of their fingers in hot, humid weather. Some days you may feel bloated because of certain things you eat. If you have eaten a lot of salty foods and also had a lot of liquid, you may be retaining more fluid than usual and your fingers may seem larger than they actually are. When sizing your fingers, make sure your fingers are not unusually swollen.

Some types of rings are easier to resize than others. Traditional wedding rings with diamonds on the front with a plain band going around the back of the finger are generally easy to resize. Rings with a pattern throughout the band are one of the more difficult types. Check with your jeweler to find out the possibilities for your ring.
